Interchromosomal Effects of Autosomal Translocations on Recombination in DROSOPHILA MELANOGASTER.

چکیده
ETEROZYGOUS autosomal translocations have been shown to affect recomHbination in the X chromosome in various ways (HINTON 1965); translocations with long interstitial distances increased recombination in X, those with short interstitial distances decreased recombination in X, and those with intermediate interstitial distances had little or no effect. Other incidental tests of translocation heterozygotes have yielded negative results which nevertheless were consistent with HINTON’S correlation (ZIMMERING and BARBOUR 1952; RAMEL 1962; RAMEL. GOLDMAN and KJELLSTROM 1964). In this paper, the interchromosomal effects of translocations will be further defined.

Interchromosomal effects on crossing-over in Drosophila melanogaster. I. Effects of compound and ring X chromosomes on the third chromosome.
LTHOUGH the properties of crossing-over have been investigated extenA sively in Drosophila melanogaster, the influence of nonhomologous chromosomes on crossing-over is a problem that warrants further exploration. Since STURTEVANT’S (1919) observation that a heterozygous inversion in the third chromosome increased crossing-over in chromosome 2, many investigators such as SCHULTZ and REDFIELD in ...
متن کاملConcentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)
Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...
متن کاملChromosome rearrangement by ectopic recombination in Drosophila melanogaster: genome structure and evolution.
Ectopic recombination between interspersed repeat sequences generates chromosomal rearrangements that have a major impact on genome structure. A survey of ectopic recombination in the region flanking the white locus of Drosophila melanogaster identified 25 transposon-mediated rearrangements from four parallel experiments. Eighteen of the 25 were generated from females carrying X chromosomes het...
متن کاملInterchromosomal Effects on Somatic Recombination in Drosophila Melanogaster.
RECOMBINATION in somatic cells of Drosophila is influenced by various genetic and environmental factors that also affect meiotic recombination. Thus, the amount of somatic crossing over in a given chromosome is controlled by the genetic contents of the chromosomal set (WEAVER 1960) and by the presence of various genes (STERN 1936; KAPLAN 1953). It may also be affected by changes in temperature ...
